NBA Draft 2016: BTBP Big Board 1.0
By Adam McGee
25. Taurean Prince – Small Forward (Baylor)
Words by Jordan Treske
Prince’s 2015-16 season: 15.3 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.7 BPG, 43.2% FG
There’s no better time to enter the NBA for Taurean Prince as he fits the prototypical “three-and-D” type that has emerged in the NBA in the last few years. Prince is a very versatile defender for a wing and he has great defensive instincts, especially in passing lanes as he’s averaging 1.5 steals per game this year at Baylor.
Offensively, Prince is a solid scorer and can score in a variety of ways. Prince’s currently averaging 15.1 points per game this season and is a reliable shooter from deep as he’s shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc.
While Prince’s scoring ability is a big plus for any team, he’s also a streaky shooter and his shooting must be improved in order to thrive on a bigger stage like the NBA.
Additionally, Prince is limited in creating scoring opportunities for others. He’s averaging a career-best 2.4 assists per game this season but also averages 2.8 turnovers per game, which could limit his role for teams down the road.
