Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

O.J. Mayo
O.J. Mayo /

, B+

12 Points | 4-7 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Mayo’s role with the Bucks right now pretty much consists of staying out of the way, communicating with teammates and contributing when the ball comes to him. He managed to do all three on Monday night. There are early signs of Mayo regaining something resembling his former three-point abilities and all seven of his attempts came from behind the arc in this one. Zero turnovers is nice too.

Khris Middleton

18 Points| 5-15 FG | 7-8 FT | 2 REB | 6 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

Not his best shooting night, particularly from deep, but what’s most important is that Middleton has found a way to consistently produce. Even when his shot’s not falling he can get to the line like he did in this game. His passing remains a marvel also. His alley-oop set up for Giannis off the backboard was the undoubted highlight, but six assists overall is as impressive as ever too.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, A+

27 Points | 12-17 FG | 3-6 FT | 12 REB | 10 AST | 3 STL | 4 BLK |

What can I say about this performance? It was the hysteria and excitement of Point Giannis at its peak. It was the most active and energetic Greek Freak we’ve ever seen. Giannis literally did it all. This was a hell of a statement, and coming off the back of two straight career games from Jabari was just what the Bucks fans needed to have their faith for the future reinforced. It’s very possible that Giannis wanted to put on a show for Kobe considering his comments before the game, if that was the case, it was mission accomplished.

Jabari Parker

, A-

15 Points | 7-15 FG | 1-2 FT | 9 REB | 4 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK

Just because this game wasn’t as spectacular for Parker, doesn’t make it any less impressive. On a night when Giannis was hot and took over, this was the perfect second option contribution from Parker. The Bucks will hope that between their core three players they’ll be able to take turns in being the dominant guy, and on those nights it’s important that everyone can still contribute though. Jabari proved he can be solid and impressive in supporting roles as well as taking the lead.

Miles Plumlee

14 Points| 7-7 FG | 0-4 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

Plumlee’s synergy with Parker and Antetokounmpo is something to behold. Everybody is eager to see how Henson can mesh as a starter with this group, but as unbelievable as it sounds, it can’t be ruled out that Plumlee could be a really great fit for what the Bucks need out of their center. He’s all effort, he can be relied upon to finish and it seems clear that his teammates like him. Credit to Plumlee, who is quickly making himself a useful player in the Bucks system.
