Milwaukee Bucks Grades and Reactions To 112-107 Loss To Boston Celtics
Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters
O.J. Mayo
, D+
3 Points | 1-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK |
It’s strange for a veteran player in a contract year to be playing with such little pop. And with Giannis helping out with the ball handling duties it makes you wonder how much longer Mayo will remain in the starting lineup. Mayo’s only points Thursday came on a three-pointer (he was 1-3 from behind the arc).
Khris Middleton
, B+
21 Points| 8-15 FG | 4-4 FT | 5 REB | 6 AST | 3 STL | 0 BLK |
It was his first game shooting efficiently since before the All-Star break. He’s playing entirely too many minutes, racking up another 42 Thursday night. But with no one on the roster to match his all-around effectiveness, the Bucks are forced to give the swingman extended minutes. He had a nice six point burst in the first quarter to help stymie a Celtics run.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, B-
14 Points | 6-12 FG | 2-5 FT | 7 REB | 8 AST | 1 STL | 3 BLK |
Take a look at Giannis’ statline. Pretty all around great, right? What if I also told you that he air-balled a free throw along with a jumper and didn’t let it shake his confidence. That’s where we’re at with Giannis these days. He seems to finally understand that he is a great player regardless of occasionally making a bad play. It looked at times like he was forcing the issue, but still managed to keep the turnover count to just two.
Jabari Parker
, B+
22 Points | 8-16 FG | 6-7 FT | 6 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK
Jabari is going to get fouled a TON over the course of his career. It stands to reason then that he should make free throw shooting a top priority. He’s shooting 76.8% on the season, but if he could stretch that average to over 80% he could really become a dangerous scorer. Dangerous like his 10 point outburst in the fourth quarter where it seemed like the Celtics just lost track of him over and over again.
, B-
5 Points| 1-2 FG | 3-4 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |
The high-flying, energetic Plumlee should have been the perfect match for the undersized Boston front line. He wasn’t. And though the 14 points to Jae Crowder and nine points to Amir Johnson in the first quarter weren’t all his fault, he was to blame for some of them. He looked a step behind all night.
