Khris Middleton – 1.7 steals per game – 15th in the NBA

Finally, an upset! MCW used to lead the Bucks in steals per game too, until Khris Middleton came along and snatched the crown. All it took was an NBA-leading 2.7 steals per game since the All-Star Break!

That’s right–along with all of the work he does on offense, no player has gotten more steals per game recently than Middleton. He’s been fantastic on both ends, which is always a nice thing to be able to say about a player.

Middleton adding a full steal per game to his season mark is impressive. The recent uptick in Middleton’s bulk defensive statistics probably has a lot to do with Giannis and Jabari Parker doing more on offense. Now that Khris doesn’t have to do 100% of the work on that end, he has more gas in the tank for defense.

Whatever the change is, Middleton has been a verifiable force on defense. He’s getting steals both by poking the ball away from his man and by intercepting passing lanes. That length the Bucks have is really starting to work for Milwaukee on defense.
