Look, does Matthew Dellavedova make the Bucks better on his own? The answer is no, he doesn’t.

For some Bucks fans out there, the frustration of the Dellavedova signing comes from how many of us were first exposed to him throughout the Cavaliers playoff run last year. Maybe that speaks to how it’s hard to overlook first impressions as fans and that certainly applies with Delly.

However, the thing that Dellevadova strives in, which recent starting/prominent Bucks point guards have struggled with in particular, is that he plays within his role.

He’ll always lack specific qualities or skills that you want out of a rotation level point guard, but Dellavedova makes up for that by doing what’s necessary for the team. It’s easy to make fun of how he’s often described as a “scrappy” player or one who does the “dirty work” for the team, but those words fit Dellavedova down to a T.

Considering the qualities they’re targeting in players, whether through the draft or free agency, signing Dellavedova is just another signal that the Bucks desire players who will put in the work and are determined to do their part in the pursuit of success.

We’ve long identified what the Bucks need from a point guard and while he doesn’t solve all of their problems, Dellavedova brings the Bucks something they’ve long been without.

One way or another, much of what infuriated Bucks fans about the Australian when he played against their team, will likely be embraced when he’s wearing green and cream.
