Player To Watch: John Wall

John Wall is really, really good. It’s criminal that Wall is seventh among guards in the East in All-Star voting as of the first update on results. All he’s doing this year is averaging 23.3 points, 10.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game on a career-best 46.6 field goal percentage.

More from Behind the Buck Pass

Wall’s points, assists and steals per game are all career best marks this season, and he’s currently leading the entire NBA in steals per game. Although his three-point percentage has fallen off slightly from last season, Wall is still making a serviceable 32.2 percent of his threes.

According to per game statistics, PER, box plus-minus and wins added per game, Wall is having the finest season of his pro career. If he wasn’t playing so well, there’s no way the Wizards would be sniffing around a playoff spot right now with their disastrous summer and weak bench.

Brad Beal is crucial to the Wizards as well, but Wall is in the driver’s seat in Washington. This team will likely go as far as he can carry them. Wall certainly could’ve used some extra help, but Kevin Durant is not walking through that door.
