Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways From Loss to Atlanta Hawks
By Adam Coffman
Giannis Gets it Going
After missing the better part of two games with an illness, Giannis’ return to the Bucks’ lineup against the Heat on Friday was relatively quiet, as he didn’t lead the team in any of the five major statistical categories.
It looks like he is fully recovered now, finishing with a game-high 33 points along with eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and three blocks to boot. As with most games of this type, it came with the usual batch of highlights.
A large chunk of his offense came on midrange jumpers and put-backs, as Atlanta did a decent job thwarting the Bucks’ drives all afternoon, so it’s encouraging to see him put up numbers without his bread-and-butter arsenal.
Unfortunately, the Bucks had little going for them on offense outside of Antetokounmpo; Monroe was the next-highest scorer with 13, and only Malcolm Brogdon finished in double figures out of the starting lineup.
Still, it’s good to see Giannis back and making his presence felt. He carried the Bucks’ offense with 23 points between the second and third quarters, and without him, Milwaukee would have stood no chance.
