Andrew Bogut

Year(s): 2007, 2006

Andrew Bogut is not a player meant for the Rising Stars Challenge. It’s not exactly a defense-orientated game, and Bogut is a defense-first player to be sure. Still, he got to start both of his Rising Stars Challenges at the center position.

The first overall pick in 2005 was better as a rookie than as a sophomore in the Rising Stars Challenge. In his first time with the rookie team Bogut posted 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 10-point loss to Andre Iguodala and the sophomores.

Bogut scored just six points when he played with the sophomores, but that team destroyed the rookies 155-114. In a fun little coincidence, Bogut and Monta Ellis were teammates on that sophomore team before being traded for each other a few years later.

Bogut was productive if not a star in his first two NBA seasons, starting most of the games he played in and doing good work on the boards and on the defensive end. Unfortunately the Bucks were bad his first season and terrible in his second year, which began to sour fans on their Australian big man.
