1987-88 – Craig Hodges (Eliminated First Round)
Hodges made his third straight appearance at the Three-Point Contest representing the Bucks in 1988. It would only be a couple of weeks later when Hodges would be traded to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jay Humphries and a second round pick.
It would have seemed like the perfect time for it all to come together in the contest for Hodges, to send him out on a positive note from Milwaukee, but that simply wasn’t to be.
In a field including Larry Bird, Dale Ellis, Byron Scott, Detlef Schrempf, Danny Ainge, Brent Price and Trent Tucker, Hodges only managed 10 points in the first round, and he was immediately eliminated in last place.
For the third straight year, Bird would reign supreme at the contest, setting a record for most wins that still stands to this day, although he shares it with one man.
Who else has won the contest three times? None other than Craig Hodges, of course. The former Buck was victorious with the Chicago Bulls for three consecutive years from 1990-92.
