Making A Deal Happen

As the Sacramento Kings proved on Sunday, a dedicated team can trade a player virtually whenever they want, if they’re willing to accept cents on the dollar in return value.

More from Bucks Rumors

Could the Bucks have swapped Monroe for a second-round pick that will never materialize at some point? It would seem highly unlikely that none of the other 29 teams would want to take a chance on him for virtually no cost.

Here’s an example of a deal the Bucks could make if they just did not care about what they got back: Greg Monroe to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Rajon Rondo‘s basketball skeleton and an uber-protected second round pick.

It seems like Milwaukee wants real value in exchange for Monroe, which is a good thing! Over the past year a deal like that one has to have been on the table at some point, and more likely than not more than just some point.

The easiest destination for a team looking to just dump a player has to be the Brooklyn Nets. This was a franchise willing to pay max money to Allen Crabbe, Tyler Johnson or both. Why wouldn’t Brooklyn take Monroe for a protected from 31-55 overall second rounder? Brooklyn would have to throw in some random contract to make salaries work, but Greg Monroe would be either the best or second-best player on that team in a heartbeat.

It seems like the Bucks are, smartly, trying to find a good deal for Monroe instead of just sending him away in exchange for what amounts to nothing. What if the team is patient and does find a suitor, though?
