2010 Trade Deadline

Two trades! Milwaukee acquired Primoz Brezec, Royal Ivey and a 2010 second round pick from the Philadelphia Sixers for Jodie Meeks and Francisco Elson.

The Bucks also got John Salmons and second round picks in 2011 and 2012 from the Chicago Bulls for Joe Alexander and Hakim Warrick.

What an exciting trade deadline! Anytime you can add John Salmons, Primoz Brezec, Royal Ivey and three second round picks, you have to do it. In all seriousness, this was actually a quietly good deadline for the Bucks.

Salmons was arguably the best player involved in the deal, and the Bucks got him. They also got three draft picks, plus the option to swap firsts with Chicago in 2010. Nobody except Meeks has lasted in the NBA since this deal went down, so let’s get to the fun stuff.

The second round picks turned into Darington Hobson, Robert Sacre…and Isaiah Thomas. The Bucks traded both of Chicago’s second-rounders, the picks that turned into Sacre and two-time All-Star IT. What a world.

The first-round pick swap in 2010 is what allowed the Bucks to take Larry Sanders, by the way. The Bulls could’ve had both Thomas and Sanders, and so could the Bucks. Well, technically right now either team could have Sanders, but that’s a different story.
