Matthew Dellavedova
Another player who only signed in Milwaukee in the summer, Matthew Dellavedova’s name was also among those mentioned by Brian Windhorst as being among the larger contracts that the Bucks would be interested in moving.
Dellavedova was acquired to be an off-ball point guard presence, playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in a role similar to what he did in Cleveland with LeBron James.
That hasn’t quite transpired so far, though, as the Bucks have ran less through Point Giannis than they did in the second half of last season, and have often given Dellavedova greater ball-handling responsibilities than were expected upon his signing.
With the emergence of Malcolm Brogdon, a player who has already once dislodged Delly in the starting lineup, and the continued Rubio rumors, it appears that the Bucks at least have doubts over whether the Australian can play as central a role in their future as they previously believed.
Dellavedova’s contract isn’t all that bad, but if the Bucks wanted to move him, trading him in the middle of a career-worst shooting year would likely prove to be a challenge.
