Major Key For Milwaukee: Take, And Make, Some Threes

The Bucks might have been able to hit the broad side of a barn in their game against the Jazz, but even if they could the Bucks probably would’ve just elected to go inside instead.

Milwaukee attempted just 18 threes as a team on Friday, which is a tiny, tiny number of threes to take in 2017. That’s nothing new for the Bucks though, unfortunately. Milwaukee ranks 26th among NBA teams in threes attempted per game, with only the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls taking less per game.

The best defense against three-pointers is to simply not let them get shot, meaning the easiest way to ensure a team has a worse offense is to simply not take threes. Milwaukee still has a decent offensive rating, but the Bucks should be shooting more.

After all, wasn’t that the point of adding Matthew Dellavedova, Mirza Teletovic, Tony Snell, Jason Terry, Michael Beasley, Malcolm Brogdon and Thon Maker this summer? Why acquire the shooters only to not use them often (or in Teletovic’s case, almost ever?)
