Player To Watch: Devin Booker

The future of the Phoenix Suns is bright. Part of the reason is thanks to the Suns likely getting another great pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, but Devin Booker being on the roster is the best thing going for Phoenix right now.

More from Behind the Buck Pass

Fans outside of Arizona wanted to write off Booker for struggling a bit early this season, but the young shooting guard bounced back in a big way. He’s currently averaging 21.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on a career-best 36.9 three point percentage.

Booker isn’t a complete player just yet–he doesn’t add much on offense besides his shooting and scoring, and his defense is a definite work in progress that’s hardly started–but there is obvious star potential in the barely-20-year-old.

The Suns must be thrilled about the prospect of potentially adding Lonzo Ball to their roster this summer. The wins still would be far off, but having a baby version of the Splash Brothers would be an exciting turn of events for Phoenix.

Booker dropped 31 points the last time the Bucks faced the Suns, most of them coming in a second quarter where he simply could not miss threes. Milwaukee will need to keep an eye–and a body–on him to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
