Player To Watch: Nick ‘Swaggy P’ Young

Let’s look at some facts. First off, Swaggy P has made 166 three-pointers this season. The Lakers record is 183 made threes in a season, accomplished by Nick Van Exel back in the 1994-95 NBA season.

Young is just 17 threes away from that record, with 14 games left in the season. That’s barely more than one three per game, which means there’s a very real chance Nick Young could hold a Lakers record before this season is over.

However, the team apparently choosing to play undrafted rookies ahead of Swaggy P means there’s a risk of him not getting a chance to break that record. According to the L.A. Times piece linked earlier, Young very much wants to be a Lakers regular season record-holder.

That means he is going to fire away from deep whenever he can over these next few weeks. Get excited for whatever minutes Swaggy gets on Friday, because he’ll be letting threes fly if he gets on the floor against the Bucks.
