Major Key For Milwaukee: Take Better Shots

The Bucks won their last game against the Portland Trail Blazers, but that was in spite of Milwaukee’s shot selection, not because of it. Both Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo used a lot of post moves, sometimes pretty far from the basket.

At one point Middleton looked shocked he didn’t get a foul call on one of those shots, but it’s not surprising that he didn’t. Perimeter players posting up don’t usually get fouls called unless somebody actually falls on them.

As for the shots themselves aside from potential fouling, they’re typically not all that efficient. Wanting to post up Giannis on a tiny defender makes sense, but he needs to seal off his guy closer to the rim than he often was against Portland to make that a truly good shot.

It’s nice to see the Bucks work with Kevin Garnett paying off, but Milwaukee needs to run more offense than simply posting up either Giannis or Khris on their man and hoping for the best from it.

Driving to the basket is almost always a good idea, and that’s something the Bucks did not do enough of in their game against the Trail Blazers. Shooting from farther away is nice, but it’s important to use that spacing to get to the rim sometimes.
