Major Key For Philadelphia: Defend The Perimeter

We’ve already established that the 76ers have trouble scoring the basketball. It makes sense, then, that Philly would struggle to win games when their opponent is able to make a lot of threes.

There’s pretty much no better way to score a bunch of points very quickly than making a few threes in a row. A team like the 76ers who typically can’t put points on the board could thus be overwhelmed if they give up a bunch of threes.

The data holds that assumption up. The Sixers have let teams shoot 38 percent or better from beyond the arc 31 times this season. They’ve won just five of those games. That means teams who are effective beyond the arc against Philly get a massive boost in their winning probability.

If the Bucks can get Khris Middleton going from deep and snap him out of the slump he’s been in, Milwaukee will have a much easier path to victory. Mirza Teletovic, Tony Snell and Matthew Dellavedova will all be important shooters to watch as well.
