Searching For Answers For Giannis

AM: So far we’ve seen Giannis Antetokounmpo single-handedly dominate the Raptors in Game 1, and then Toronto managed to limit him somewhat in their Game 2 win. Do you feel the Raptors have an answer for Giannis or is it all about damage limitation?

BB: Giannis dominated Game 1 because he got out in transition off Raptors misses. When that guy has a head of steam and a broken floor, not even fouling him works. The answer for Toronto is to make more shots.

The notion of allowing Giannis his (contested) points while limiting others is not in Dwane Casey’s DNA. Our coach will continue to throw multiple defenders on the Freak while avoiding double-teaming. P.J. Tucker is capable of standing him up and forcing him to shoot jumpers. Hopefully Serge Ibaka can offer rim protection following a defensive breakdown.
