Thon’s Breakout

Thon Maker had an incredible playoff series. He’s gone from a question mark, to Reggie Miller (who isn’t always right) saying the Bucks have two superstars after a Thon to Giannis connection in the first quarter.

The rookie made a huge impact on the defensive end in his 13 minutes of action, blocking five shot attempts by the Raptors. He added two points, two rebounds, and two assists.

He emphatically swatted DeRozan to throw the momentum back on Milwaukee’s side late in the second quarter. That’s one of his greatest assets, bringing energy to the team. His idol is Kevin Garnett, he gets to work with Kevin Garnett, and he’s doing his best to live up to his idol. A true baller’s dream.

Among the highlight defensive plays from Thon’s playoff breakout there’s also been the flashes he’s shown on offense. Whether it be an attempted three from well beyond the three-point line to beat the buzzer — where he looked like Kevin Durant pulling up — or pushing his dribble forward to aggressively attack the basket.

Maker looks to have incredible potential. It’s quite clear that the rookie is going to put in the work necessary to come back to training camp an improved player. He has a similar work ethic to Giannis, allowing Bucks Nation to sleep sound knowing things are progressing.
