Moving Forward

This was a tough season to grade Khris Middleton on. Middleton is obviously more than a 14 point per game player, although since he was recovering from such a serious injury it’s tough to hold his low per game numbers against him.

Especially considering Middleton’s per 36 numbers were nearly as good as they were last season. A rough playoff series aside, there seems to be no sign that Middleton won’t come back as a rejuvenated player for the 2017-18 NBA season.

As seen in the table above, While his points per 36 dipped slightly most of Middleton’s other statistics stayed roughly the same, and his shooting percentages and rebounding actually improved notably in 2016-17, when adjusted to the reduced minutes load he played.

As tantalizing as the thought of Middleton adding tricks to his game during the offseason is, as long as he takes the time to get fully healthy and ready for next year he’ll have hit his goals. Some work on coming off of screens on offense might help too though, if I’m being greedy.
