Salary

Luc Mbah a Moute is not anybody’s first priority in NBA free agency. He’s not a missing piece that will make a team go from good to great or a key fifth starter on a contending team, as evidenced by how the last two years went for the Clippers.

That being said, he does have value to NBA teams. He’s been on a lot of different teams in a lot of different situations throughout his career, and his defensive acumen is valuable, especially considering his 7’0″ wingspan.

Even with his reputation as a stout defender, Mbah a Moute is unlikely to command a huge salary. He’s getting older and has never been a strong scorer, and it’s easy to question if he’ll match his strong three-point percentage from last year.

A deal for the veteran minimum salary makes the most sense here, although wing players with gaudy three-point percentages always have a chance of snagging a big contract these days in the NBA.
