Overall Grade

Wilson is exactly the kind of player a team should take with the 17th pick. There’s an element of risk and uncertainty to just how good he could become, but there’s already enough tangible skill and appeal to make the pick a sensible move.

There shouldn’t be an expectation for Wilson to become a key cog of the Bucks’ rotation as a rookie, but he should at least have enough about him to be able to earn some meaningful minutes throughout the year.

How he handles that will largely dictate how good of a pick this was, but with Jabari Parker missing for at least half of the season and legitimate concerns about his health longer term, it’s certainly a sensible move to draft a player of Wilson’s skill-set.

Beyond that, he’s a seamless fit alongside many of Milwaukee’s other key pieces, and a long armed trio of Wilson, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thon Maker should make for plenty of fun in the future.
