Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks are smart too, but this whole salary dump this is kind of new for the Hawks, who have been a playoff team for a long time. Atlanta just traded away Dwight Howard for Miles Plumlee — reuniting Plumlee with Henson just feels right.

Right now the Hawks wouldn’t be able to absorb a contract, but once Paul Millsap leaves (and he likely will) Atlanta could end up with max cap space as well. The Hawks may well spend enough to undo that opening, but if they don’t there will be room for Atlanta to absorb one of Milwaukee’s contracts, too.

Could new GM Travis Schlenk take a shot on Henson or Teletovic without demanding a first rounder in return? It’s certainly possible, as anything in this crazy league is. The Hawks have been more willing than most teams to pay a lot for questionable personnel, as Atlanta has struggled to find free agents aside from Dwightmare, part III.

Atlanta is certainly going to be a team to keep an eye on for Bucks fans throughout free agency. If the Hawks let Millsap, Tim Hardaway Jr. and others walk without signing any huge deals, then Atlanta is a perfect salary dump candidate.
