Philadelphia 76ers

Surprisingly, the Philadelphia 76ers aren’t as good of a salary dump destination as you might think. Philly will have oodles of cap space, but the 76ers might use a lot of it quickly in free agency.

After being near the bottom of the NBA for the last few seasons, Philly is craving a winning team. With a core of Markelle Fultz, Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Dario Saric, the wins will almost certainly come rolling in.

It might not be next season, but the Sixers probably don’t want to take a bad contract that will hamstring them as Embiid draws closer to free agency. Once these rookies start needing new contracts, cap space in Philadelphia will be out the window. Then the 76ers could wind up in a situation like the Bucks are in right now.

The Sixers could potentially accept a bad deal, but it makes more sense for Philly to sign productive players with that space and prepare for the offseasons to come. For once, the 76ers are planning on being pretty damn good.
