He missed a game earlier due to injury but came back strong. The Mitten’s per game averages of 8.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 3.2 steals may not jump off of the page, but that steals number speaks to how good Payton II’s defense has been throughout Summer League.

On the whole in Vegas, Payton II shot 46.9 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from deep and didn’t miss a single free throw. That three-point percentage is what’s going to matter for him going forward–The Mitten’s NBA chances hinge on him becoming able to hit threes, at least open ones.
