Center

There’s pretty much no thought involved when picking the Milwaukee Bucks All-Time Team center. It’s Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and there’s no room for debate. The Bucks had lots of good centers like Andrew BogutAlton Lister, and Jack Sikma, but none of them are close to Kareem’s level.

The only debate here is which Kareem to use. Steals and blocks weren’t recorded during Kareem’s first four years, but we’re not discounting those seasons–it’s highly unlikely Kareem wasn’t as monstrous on defense as he looked later as he was when when the numbers weren’t recorded back in his earlier years.

So far, players with more rebounds and assists have been favored over high scorers. Not this time. All of those concessions were made so a truly fearsome Kareem could be picked here, so let’s go with the strongest season the NBA’s leading scorer ever had.

In over 44 minutes per game, Kareem averaged 34.8 points, 16.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game in 1971-72. He shot 57.4 percent from the field, and won his second MVP award that season.

This lineup is fearsome. Ray Allen should inject enough spacing to help the other four guys do their work. The best part is they’re all passers–these Bucks would be a joy to watch. Now let’s figure out their supporting cast.

Starting five: Oscar, Ray, Marques, Giannis, Kareem
