2012

14. John Henson
42. Doron Lamb

Grade: C+

The grade of this draft can only be determined by where you stand on the career of John Henson. Henson is currently the longest serving Buck, about to enter his sixth year in Milwaukee. In that time, Henson has proved to be an important rotation player off the bench, averaging 7.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

The John Henson conundrum drags deeper than this however. Henson has played under three coaches during his time in Milwaukee and has been unable to crack or hold down a starting position under any of them.

Henson is also entering the second year of the $44 million contract he signed in the offseason of 2015. Essentially. Henson is being paid starter’s money, while at no point in his career has he showed any ability justify a starting position. By all reports, Henson is however a fantastic teammate, and is quite active in the Milwaukee community.

Doron Lamb’s impact in Milwaukee was all but negligible, playing only 23 games before being involved in the trade which sent J.J. Reddick to Milwaukee. As a result, the 2012 draft grade is being solely based on John Henson’s production in Milwaukee.

Henson was a solid choice in an uninspiring draft where several of the mid first round selections (Terrence Jones, Fab Melo, Jared Sullinger, etc), taken just after Henson are no longer in the league. As a result, Hammond receives a solid C+ for his efforts on draft night in 2012.
