Milwaukee Bucks: Top-10 individual seasons in franchise history
By Ben Sewell
5. Marques Johnson – (1978-79)
Stat Line – 25.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.2 blocks
Accolades – NBA All-Star, All-NBA First Team
Bucks Record: 38-44 (8th in Eastern Conference), missed playoffs
Marques Johnson may have been snubbed in the NBA 2K18 All-Time Bucks roster, but he is not to be denied on this occasion. Johnson is remembered as one of the greatest Bucks of all-time, highlighted by his elite second year in the NBA.
Johnson led from the front, topping the points, rebounding and field goal percentage averages on this side. His points total and field goal percentage were good enough for third and eighth best in the league, respectively.
Unfortunately for Johnson and the Bucks, they missed the playoffs in this season, but in no way was that a reflection on Johnson’s performance. Johnson earned his first of five All-Star nods, while also being voted into the All-NBA First Team, for the first and only time in his career.
Johnson was everything to this team and even though he continued his great form into the following five years in Milwaukee, he never reached the heights of this particular season.
