Sixth Man: Junior Bridgeman (1975 – 1984, 1986-87)

Position – Small Forward

Statistics – 13.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 steals per game

Bucks Records – First in games played, eighth in minutes played, fifth in field goals made, ninth in steals, seventh in total points

Accolades – No. 2 retired by the Milwaukee Bucks

While he is certainly not the best player to don the deer uniform, Bridgeman was a picture of consistency during a time when it was desperately needed by the Bucks. Brought to the team, along with Winters in the Abdul-Jabbar trade, Bridgeman played 10 seasons in Milwaukee and still holds the record for the most games played by a Bucks player.

Bridgeman played largely in a sixth man role for Milwaukee in 711 games, while only starting in 23. Bridgeman was excellent in his role however, scoring 9892 points while shooting at almost 50 percent from the field.

Bridgeman combined with Winters to form a dynamic duo which helped mitigate the loss felt by the side when Abdul-Jabbar left. Unlike Winters however, Bridgeman stayed with the side well into the mid 1980s, when Milwaukee had regained their peak form again.

Bridgeman’s commitment to the Bucks and sheer consistency should have earned him a place in the all-time Bucks squad. While he was never the best player on his team, time and again, Bridgeman’s name was introduced for 10 seasons and 711 games. Bridgeman is, in every sense of the word, a Milwaukee Bucks legend.
