Milwaukee Bucks: Malcolm Brogdon season preview 2017-18
By Adam McGee
What Brogdon offers
Brogdon falls perfectly in line with the template that for so long Bucks fans pined for in a point guard to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The 24-year-old offers a steady and reliable presence above all else, but does so coupled with a wide and versatile range of skills too.
After a stellar five-year stint at the University of Virginia, Brogdon hit the ground running in the NBA. That success included a mix of his strengths from college translating, as well as a jump to new heights in certain areas of his game.
The defensive elements that earned Brogdon NABC Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior in Virginia were still apparent in the NBA, allowing the Atlanta native to cover both backcourt positions as a pro.
Brogdon has also flexed his muscles as a playmaker, while perhaps most importantly he’s also significantly stepped up his three-point shooting even with the extended distance from behind the three-point line in the NBA.
In short, Brogdon isn’t the Bucks’ best player, but he’s one of their most versatile and reliable players, and his importance should only continue to grow in his second season.
