Milwaukee Bucks: John Henson season preview 2017-18
By Adam McGee
John Henson is the longest tenured Milwaukee Bucks player, but can he finally crack through and be consistently productive this season?
John Henson enters the new season in a pretty unique position in terms of his status within the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster.
The coming season will be the 26-year-old’s sixth in the NBA, and having played all of those seasons with the Bucks, Henson’s relationship with the organization and its fans goes on longer than any of his peers.
Having arrived as one of the first long and athletic pieces that would ultimately define the franchise’s identity, Henson then transformed into an intriguing, high-upside prospect, and is now making the transition over to being more of a veteran, rotation big man.

The only problem is that finding a spot in the rotation hasn’t come easy to Henson in the past couple of seasons, as the inconsistency that stifled his development earlier in his career continued to be an issue.
As he begins the second season of a four-year, $44 million contract, Henson will likely be looking to get back to playing a greater role with the Bucks, and he certainly has plenty to prove over the coming months.
If Henson is to make a major impact in the 2017-18 season, he’ll need to buck the trends of recent seasons and beat out more consistent rivals for minutes. It may be too late to ask whether John Henson can figure it all out, but as a starting point, can he find a way to be productive again? Let’s take a closer look.
