Milwaukee Bucks Preseason Preview: Oct. 13 vs Detroit Pistons

Major key for Detroit: Move the ball
The Pistons have several players who are capable scorers, although none of them stand out as dominant offensive weapons. To best utilize their roster, Stan van Gundy’s team needs to keep the ball moving and feed the hot hand, whoever it may be.
The Pistons were not good at moving the ball last season. Detroit ranked 24th among NBA teams with just 21.1 dimes per game as a team. That likely had a lot to do with why the Pistons were 19th in the league in wins last year, in addition to some tough injury and chemistry problems.
Their 24th-ranked offensive efficiency coinciding with their 24th-ranked assists mark is just poetic. Passing leads to good offense far more than it doesn’t. Although, strangely, Detroit averaged more assists in losses than in wins last season.
Despite that odd trend, the Pistons would still be wise to move the rock on Friday. Doubly so because the Bucks are their opponent. Extra passes tend to dice up Milwaukee’s perimeter defense, and with Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris and other shooters on the roster Detroit’s offense could really get humming if the triples are falling.
