3. Brandon Knight

Statistics – 17.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists

Seasons in Milwaukee – 2013-2015

How he was acquired – Via trade, 2013

Muck akin to the Carter-Williams trade two years later, the Bucks had refused to tie themselves to their current star in Brandon Jennings. Instead they traded him to the Detroit Pistons for young point guard Brandon Knight, and Detroit threw in Khris Middleton as a way to match salaries.

Middleton has certainly gone on to bigger and better things in Milwaukee but one would be negligent to ignore the accomplishments of Knight with the Bucks too. Before he was traded in 2015, Knight was considered a snub from the All-Star game after leading a resurgent Bucks team to a 31-23 record. Knight was fantastic for the Bucks, leading them in scoring while shooting over 40 percent from three.

Unfortunately for Knight, his career has taken a nose dive in Phoenix and he is now considered as the owner of one of the worst contracts in the league, after signing a $70 million deal.

One can only wonder what Knight’s career may have been had he stayed with Milwaukee beyond 2015. Certainly Knight’s explosive offense and three-point shooting would certainly have helped this current team in more ways than one, but whether he would have been capable of that is debatable in its own right.
