Major key for Los Angeles – Push the pace

Continuing on a similar theme, the Lakers will not only be hoping to exploit any Bucks’ tiredness due to their comparative rest, but also as a team with a style that’s perfectly designed to exploit such a scenario.

Luke Walton’s young Lakers team look to get out and run at every possible opportunity, and it’s probable that they will push the pace with an even greater emphasis on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

The Lakers are currently third in the NBA in pace, averaging 105.5 possessions per game as opposed to Milwaukee’s 98.6.

Expanding upon that, the Lakers are also lethal in terms of transition offense. Building in many staples from his time in Golden State, Walton has the Lakers dialed in on the break and their 15.3 fastbreak points per game rank second in the NBA only to the aforementioned Warriors.

Stopping opponents from getting out and running has been one of the Bucks’ greatest strengths to start the season, as they lead the league in terms of lowest opponent fastbreak points per game at only 6.0.

The game will likely pivot on that battle on Saturday, and Los Angeles will be hoping that a relentless pace may wear the Bucks down and lead to opportunities they haven’t been conceding up until this point.
