Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 94-87 win over San Antonio Spurs
The Greek technique
While Bledsoe’s debut may have added a headlining twist, Giannis Antetokounmpo certainly made his mark on the national stage in last night’s win.
Antetokounmpo posted 28 points on 12-of-24 shooting from the field (0-of-1 from deep), 12 rebounds, five assists, four blocks, a steal and a turnover, and was a team-high +13 in his nearly 36 minutes of playing time.
Offensively, Antetokounmpo didn’t have a terribly efficient night, especially by his standards. It was great to see him being confident in his mid-range game, but it didn’t prove to be too successful on the night. Nonetheless, he worked his magic in transition and added to his long list of jaw dropping in-game highlight slam dunks:
Defensively, however, Giannis was a force protecting the rim as he couldn’t stop swatting away shots near the basket for stretches at a time.
It’s hard not to marvel at the standard Giannis has set this early in the season when he has a game like he did on Friday that came with definite drawbacks and yet he still remains to be as influential as he was.
