Concerning takeaway

For the third straight game, turnovers proved to be a major issue for Jordan Brady’s team.

The Herd finished the game with 24 turnovers, and had already reached double digits in terms of giveaways by the time the game was just over a minute into the second quarter.

While the Herd have managed to cover over the turnover cracks against lesser opponents and on nights when they had more scoring of their own to lean on, there was no such luck against the Warriors.

Turnovers are part and parcel of the game at this level, particularly as teams generally push a much faster pace than they do in the NBA. Still, the Herd are standing out among the league’s worst in that department.

In the early running, Wisconsin sit as the G League’s fourth worst team when it comes to turnovers, averaging 22.3 per game. With only an average of 19 assists per game to counteract that, the Herd’s carelessness is leaving them with a lot to do.

It’s not necessarily a cause for major concern with a brand new team and players who are still getting to know each other and their coaches, but it will need to be a point of emphasis for the Herd moving forward.
