John Henson, being active

After spending much of the past year without a secure role in the Bucks rotation, John Henson has become an integral starter on the team. It hasn’t come a moment too soon, either, as without Greg Monroe it’s up to Henson and Thon Maker to man the middle every night.

Henson’s life is easier than it ever has been, now that he’s sharing the floor with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton in many of his minutes. Even if he’s the last option opposing defenses worry about, it can’t be denied that Henson has made the most of his latest opportunity in Milwaukee.

He made the Bucks’ first three shots of the evening, keeping the team alive in a rough start for the other Bucks. Henson stayed actively defensively as well, and did a good job at staying within his role without disappearing.

In 26 minutes of action, Henson posted eight points, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and five personal fouls. Obviously those fouls should come down, but Henson was solid in the run he got, and his defense was encouraging. The more energy he can show on that end, the better, so long as the fouling doesn’t get excessive.
