Living at the line

On Monday, for the second game in a row, the Bucks got to the free-throw line consistently. The Bucks, on average, attempt 19.2 free-throws per game. That ranks 26th in the league, a very disappointing number considering a seven-foot Greek menace is attacking the rim on nearly every position.

Against the Grizzlies, however, the Bucks were able to reverse that trend. They attempted 25 free-throws, six more than their average and four more than the Grizzlies. Unfortunately, for the Bucks they were not able to keep up with Memphis’  85.2-percent shooting and still knocked down the same amount of shots.

Still, it is nice to see the Bucks attacking the rim and attempting foul shots as a result. In the past two games, the Bucks have attempted 26 and 25 free throw attempts respectively, their third and fourth highest attempts of the season, and the two highest marks since their third game.

Against the Grizzlies it was the familiar face of Giannis Antetokounmpo and new addition Eric Bledsoe who were responsible for the lion’s share of attempts, shooting a combined 17 free throws.

This is something to keep an eye on moving forward. If Bledsoe is able to get to the line more consistently than Bucks guards have done in the past, that 26th ranking might not last much longer.
