Major key for Sacramento – Fire away from deep

The Sacramento Kings are something of an outlier in the modern NBA. The Kings are an excellent shooting team, and particularly accurate from three-point range, but they don’t usually take advantage of that strength from night to night.

The Kings are fourth in the NBA in terms of three-point percentage, knocking down an impressive 38.5 percent of their shots from beyond the arc. As impressive as that number is, the problem for Sacramento is that they counteract the obvious positives that could come from that accuracy by shooting the lowest number of three-point attempts (21.1) in the league.

If the Kings target a more three-point heavy approach as a strategy to cause the Bucks problems, they could well be rewarded in surpassing both of their average marks. On average, Milwaukee’s opponents attempt 27.4 three-pointers per game, but even more significantly, the Bucks give up three-point makes at a league-high clip of 40.7 percent.

Frank Mason III, George Hill, Skal Labissiere, Buddy Hield and Malachi Richardson all average over 40 percent from distance for Sacramento, while Zach Randolph and Garrett Temple aren’t far behind in the high 30s.

If the Bucks give the Kings the kind of opportunities they generally give their opponents, Sacramento need to show a willingness to take advantage.
