Dealing with rivals

Given the current struggles of the Milwaukee Bucks, fortifying the bench should be on the radar of the Bucks’ front office.

With this trade, Milwaukee would be acquiring a player they could have had in Bobby Portis, and a quality big man in Robin Lopez. Greg Monroe being traded left the Bucks without a great rebounder and strong interior presence, and Lopez brings just that.

Bringing Lopez and Portis off the bench would surely be able to mitigate some of the problems plaguing the Bucks of late.

On the flip side, the Bucks would be essentially dumping Matthew Dellavedova‘s contract, and giving up a major talent to do so.

In my opinion, Jabari Parker is too valuable to give up in a trade like this. There’s far too much star quality upside in Parker’s game to trade for bench pieces. Even though he’s not quite as accomplished or intriguing as Parker, Thon Maker still possesses the ability to be a very good player in the NBA too.

Coupling Parker and Maker seems like too steep of a price to pay for Lopez and Portis, as they could potentially get them for much less.
