Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 106-101 loss to Miami Heat
Big(s) trouble
All throughout Wednesday night’s game, the Bucks had no answer for either one of Hassan Whiteside and Kelly Olynyk from the Heat.
Whiteside gave both John Henson and Thon Maker fits with having to deal with his size, length and strength, whether it was fighting for position, corralling down rebounds or trying to limit his offensive effectiveness from down low (Whiteside finished with 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field).
It was the same story on the defensive end as well as Whiteside stuffed Henson near the basket on numerous occasions (Whiteside finished with six blocks on the night) and was locked in with staying on some of the Bucks’ guards, particularly Malcolm Brogdon, to prevent them from turning the corner and doing damage in the paint.
As for Olynyk, most of his damage came in the fourth quarter as he almost single-handedly strung together a 10-0 run on his own at the start of the period, shaking and pumpfaking his way for easy drives to the rack.
Simply put, it was a textbook performance in how to pick apart the Bucks from the inside out when you put together Whiteside and Olynyk’s outings and it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise at this point after having seen this story all too many times before.
