Milwaukee Bucks: 6 low-cost centers to target at the trade deadline
By Adam McGee
Kyle O’Quinn
As will become even more apparent later in this article, the New York Knicks have a significant logjam at center making them one of the most likely teams to move a big man ahead of the trade deadline.
One such candidate is Kyle O’Quinn, who in spite of consistently good play on dysfunctional Knicks teams over the past couple of years, continues to find himself with surprisingly limited opportunity in the Big Apple.
O’Quinn has at least been given reliable minutes as a bench big over the past couple of years, but considering his abilities on both ends of the floor and his appealingly affordable contract, he could certainly warrant a bigger role elsewhere.
This season, O’Quinn is averaging 6.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 blocks in just 16.7 minutes per game, while shooting a very efficient 58.7 percent from the field.
Ian Begley of ESPN reported the Golden State Warriors as a team with interest, but earning just $4 million this year with an option for $4.2 million next season, it seems likely that O’Quinn will have a wide range of suitors if the Knicks truly do make him available.
