Major key for Milwaukee – Hit some threes
The Bucks rank among the worst teams in the NBA in terms of volume and percentage from three-point range and as a result, it’s rare for Milwaukee to get to play against a team that’s actually worse in those departments.
On Thursday night, they’ll face a Timberwolves team that fits that bill.
While the Bucks are 26th in three-point attempts per game (24.6) and 22nd in three-point percentage (35.5 percent), the Timberwolves are 29th (22.0) and 26th (35.1 percent) in those respective categories.
While on the surface those differences seem so marginal as to not make a difference, the Bucks have become a significantly better three-point shooting team in the small sample since Joe Prunty was installed as interim head coach.
Milwaukee has made 42.7 percent of their threes over their last four games, good enough for fourth in the NBA, and in a game likely to be as closely contested as this one, similar shooting could make all the difference.
