Concerning takeaway

Considering their active roster was down to its bare bones entering the night, it was no surprise to see the Herd struggle to contain the Nets on the glass. For the game, the Nets outrebounded the Herd 47-35.

With only one traditional big man available at their disposal in Michael Dunigan, the Herd were asking a lot of their available forwards, wings and guards to help track back and fight the Nets off the boards. That opened up the opportunity for the Nets to fly in and generate second chance opportunities as they edged out the Herd in terms of second chance points 20-18 on the night.

Of course, it should be noted that the Herd were also on the second night of a back-to-back and had dealt with similar depth issues the night before, though to not the same degree of what they had last night.

Regardless, without both Joel Bolomboy and Cliff Alexander for the third straight contest as they continue to nurse their respective injuries, the Herd’s activity on the boards left a bit to be desired, albeit expectedly so under the circumstances.
