Major key for Milwaukee – Hold their own in the paint

Regular readers of these previews are probably tired of notes to this effect regarding the Bucks, but how Milwaukee’s big men fare on Thursday night will again be crucial to the outcome of this game.

With John Henson, again, scheduled to miss out with a hamstring injury, the responsibility on this occasion will fall on the shoulders of Thon Maker and Tyler Zeller.

The Nuggets excel in getting the best of their opponents around the basket, and the Bucks will face a real challenge in that department on this occasion.

Denver rank fourth in the NBA in points in the paint (48.7 per game) and eighth in rebounds (44.6 per game).

Although Milwaukee’s rebounding has experienced some minor improvements under Joe Prunty, the Bucks remain rooted to the bottom of the NBA in that area, while they’re also a bottom-10 team in terms of allowing opposition points in the paint.

Not only will the Bucks need big games from both Maker and Zeller on Thursday, but they’ll need a team effort to help combat Denver’s strength inside.
