Matthew Dellevedova

Matthew Dellavedova just hasn’t quite got out of the gates this season, which is backed up by the statistics he has posted thus far. Dellavedova is posting career-worst per game numbers this season with only 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Much of this is likely owed to the slow start he suffered from a left knee tendinitis issue which forced him out for 15 games back in late 2017.

Once he returned, it took almost a full month before Dellavedova really sprung back into any semblance of form. Once Brogdon went down injured, however, Prunty was forced to turn to Dellavedova in an expanded role. This lasted two games before Dellavedova went down on his right ankle against the Brooklyn Nets.

Thankfully he was able to hobble off the court under his own power, showing the injury was not as severe as first thought. It has since been reported than Dellavedova will miss three-to-four weeks with a sprained right ankle, falling in line with a grade one or two lateral ankle sprain.

While these injuries certainly vary on a case by case basis, often most do return within a month. It has now been two weeks since that injury and Dellavedova appears to be progressing well with his rehab, posting videos online of himself performing solo balance drills with the medical team.

Given the initial timeline, Dellavedova will likely rejoin on-court training in the next week, followed by full five-on-five drills soon after that. The Bucks could certainly use Dellavedova back ASAP as their guard stocks dwindle by the day.
