JET still has it

After plenty of fan discussion throughout the week over the viability of swapping Jason Terry out for Brandon Jennings, Terry put in one of his best performances in a Bucks uniform to help claim victory on Friday night.

Terry was everywhere on both ends of the floor as he finished with 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including two late free throws to bury any hopes Toronto had of a comeback.

In a pure exhibition of the importance Terry has to the roster, he brought out his trademark “take-off” celebration, followed by gestures to the crowd that both angered home fans and re-energized his teammates on the court and on the bench. Terry’s value has never purely been on the court, as often, it is his actions off the court which provide the most value to this team.

On Friday night, he combined both to help the Bucks over the line and beat the number one team in the East. Most impressive from Terry was his composure on the ball. With the Bucks down by three midway through the first period of overtime, Terry nailed a three from the corner, followed by an assist to a Middleton three as the Bucks went ahead by three and seized the momentum in the contest.

Terry then nailed his two free throws with less than a second left on the clock to finish the game off for Milwaukee. A common train of thought in today’s NBA is that true value can be found at the very front and the very end of a team’s salary cap. Terry proved this to be correct on Friday night as the veteran guard, on a one-year minimum salary deal helped the Bucks over the line against one of the best teams in the league.
