Statistics

Clearly, the most shallow way to assess a player’s importance to a team and a franchise in the longer term is to look at the impact they have made on the stat sheet. So far, in Middleton’s five seasons in Milwaukee, he is averaging 15.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Middleton has always been a great scorer in Milwaukee and has never averaged below double digits in his five seasons. One can only imagine the numbers Middleton would be posting if his typical slow starts to the season were to be erased from his resume.

Middleton has also scored with high efficiency, currently averaging 45.3 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from deep for his time in Milwaukee.

As the game has evolved to incorporate a greater importance on outside shooting, Middleton’s game has shone through as one of the greatest threats from deep in franchise history. He currently sits at 525 made three-point shots, only 20 made shots behind Brandon Jennings who sits in third place in Bucks history.

The Charleston native is also a tremendous free throw shooter, currently sitting at 87.3 percent for his career, good enough for fourth best in franchise history. Middleton also averages 1.4 steals per game, which is 10th best in Bucks history, owing greatly to his defensive impact on the game as a true two-way player.

So where does all this leave Middleton in terms of Bucks history?

Perhaps most notably, Middleton is one of just nine players in franchise history to average at least 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal per game. The list is a who’s who of Bucks greats comprising of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sidney Moncrief, Marques Johnson, Bob Dandridge, Ray Allen, Oscar Robertson, Sam Cassell, Glenn Robinson, Antetokounmpo and Middleton.

By all accounts, Middleton’s impact has been significant to date and he’s certainly tracking in the right direction from a stats perspective to build a sizable Bucks legacy.
