Fresh Prince leads Hawks

It was 90s night at the Bradley Center, so it should not have been a surprise to Bucks fans that the Fresh Prince made an appearance. Hawks forward Taurean Prince torched Milwaukee for a game-high 38 points.

The second-year pro had a big role in putting the Hawks ahead to open the game, scoring nine points in the first quarter alone. When he had 14 at the half (one over his average of 13), it was clear that the young man was having himself a game. Prince was just getting started, though.

The former Baylor Bear exploded for 24 points in the second half. He was 9-of-18 from the field in the final two quarters, and it’s a good thing for the Bucks he could not get much going from beyond the arc, where has just 2-of-9 during that span.

The number 12 pick in the 2016 NBA draft, Prince matched his career high for points on the evening. He shot 50 percent form the field overall (13-of-26), was perfect from the line (8-of-8), and pulled down eight rebounds to boot. It was a night to remember for the young Hawk.

Other players for Atlanta had strong performances, including Denis Schröder (18 points, 9 assists), whose quickness challenged the Bucks all night. He fouled out in the fourth, a welcome development for Milwaukee.

Dewayne Dedmon (10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks), and John Collins (15 points, 12 rebounds) stood out from the Hawks bigs. Late in the game, Collins suffered a sprained ankle on an unfortunate play in which he landed on Giannis Antetokoumpo’s foot after shooting a jump shot.

Giannis was given a flagrant 1 on the play, and quickly checked on Collins and appeared to apologize. It seemed to be an accident, but hopefully Giannis is going to be a little more mindful of this kind of risk moving forward.
