Positive takeaway

Considering how much of a hole they were in to start the night, the Herd had to conjure up some magic from beyond the three-point line to make things interesting.

For the night, the Herd finished with a season-high 39 attempts from beyond the arc and subsequently converted a season-high 20 makes. While that efficiency mark of 51.3 percent does not stand as a season-high to make it a season-high trifecta, so to speak, it does rank as the fourth-highest mark the Herd have had from deep for a single game this year.

The two biggest contributors who drove the Herd’s overall three-point success for the night were Herd season scoring leader Xavier Munford and swingman Ricky Ledo, who returned to action after missing the last two games due to suffering back spasms.

While we’ll dive deeper into Munford’s night in just a bit (I’m tipping my hand, it seems), Ledo displayed the greenest of green lights as he shaked and baked pulling up and launching away from deep, eventually posting 27 points on 7-of-16 shooting from long range in his 39 minutes off the bench.

For how much of a struggle they had scoring in the paint seeing that they were outscored 40-24 in that category, the Herd had no choice but to ride the hot hands of both Munford and Ledo from downtown to give them a shot at taking the game late.
